If you haven't been to our studios before, we are based in the Auckland CBD, at 260 Queen St (above McDonald's). Entrance is through the glass door to the left from the McDonald's foyer.

Please report to Reception upstairs on Level 1 at least 5 - 10 minutes before class to register and pay, or drop by and watch a class - we look forward to seeing you!

All classes at City Dance run on a casual basis which means you can start whenever you want to.

WHAT TO WEAR

We recommend you wear whatever you feel comfortable in such as loose non-restrictive clothing e.g. trousers or jeans, t-shirt, singlet or stretchy dance clothes.

Suggested footwear includes dance shoes, or street shoes with a leather sole, or "cross training" or "aerobic" style shoes;  these provide the cushion and medial lateral support needed for side-to-side movements and also have low traction rubber for easy sliding and turning. Please be cautious with "running shoes" - they tend to have a heavy tread on the sole and are designed for forward movement. Please check with us if you're not sure.

Ballet

Wear a leotard and tights, or stretch pants and t-shirt or singlet. Bring ballet shoes if you have them, otherwise class can be done barefoot or in socks. Advanced students can bring pointe shoes.

Broadway

Ladies can bring dance shoes or comfortable and supportive low to medium height heeled shoes.

Ballroom and Latin American dance styles

Wear comfortable casual clothing and ballroom dance shoes if you have them. If not, please wear supportive comfortable street shoes with a leather sole (slip-ons, jandals, and trainers are not suitable). Ladies should wear low to medium height heeled shoes preferable with ankle strap support and closed toes.

Contemporary

This class can be done barefoot or jazz shoes.

Tap

Wear hard soled leather shoes for the first few classes but after that tap shoes will be required.
